I am putting on a brave smile and facing the new year as a close chapters that honestly should have been closed a long time ago. Have I made foolish mistakes regarding men in life? Tons. The good thing about making mistakes is that if you are smart enough you learn from them and grow as a person. These last two months or so found me looking for something that was missing in my life in all the wrong places. It wasn’t until I realized you can’t hang your happiness on others and expect that to make you happy. I learned you make your own happiness in this world, and that was a rather hard lesson to sink in. Yes I was foolish and naive and led astray looking for something that had I opened my eyes I would have seen was right in front of me the whole time. I learned I need to look at the bigger picture not be distracted by the facade. Problem with me I think is that I leap before I look and never really worry about where I am gonna land. For now I am focusing on me and what I need in my life and taking care of that first. Everything else that was suffocating me I am sweeping away. I found a lot of things I was putting up with so I didn’t rock the boat which in the end was just dragging me down. It’s time I take that baby step into the world and face it head on and stop looking backwards at things long gone. This new year is a time for fresh starts and dreams and goals long since abandoned to be picked back up, because as long as you have hope and faith anything is possible.
